One of the most important things you need in pregnancy is a sound and comfortable sleep more than ever. But unfortunately, a lot of women wrestle in bed trying to figure out a comfortable sleeping position. This is because of the constant changes in your body shape.
Here are some recommended sleeping positions.
It refers to sleeping on side and is the most recommended sleeping position in pregnancy. Although it is safe to sleep on either side, sleeping on the left side increases the amount of blood and nutrients that reach the placenta which is essential for the growth of the baby.
Sleeping on the back
While it may be safe to sleep on your back in the first trimester, you should avoid the same at later stages. It causes your abdomen and uterus to press the major vein that returns blood from your lower body to the heart. This, in turn, causes low blood pressure, decreased blood circulation to the placenta, digestive problems, backaches and difficulty in breathing.
On your tummy
With a growing tummy, this is clearly not a good idea as it affects blood circulation and harms the baby.
